I'm delighted you've decided to visit my website! Here's a little something about me.

After a 40+ year career in strategic communication in the Washington, DC region, I‘m settled into my dream career as an author. 

From children's picture books, both fiction and nonfiction, to scholarly writing focused on the study of America's First Ladies, my new writing journey is exciting - and challenging - all at the same time.

One of the best developments in this new phase of my life is the honor of serving on the board of the First Ladies Association for Research and Education (FLARE). In fact, in January 2026, I was re-elected to my second term. I am also delighted beyond measure to have become a founding member of East Wing Magazine, the first journalistic-driven publication dedicated to covering presidential First Ladies.

I hold a master's degree in strategic communication and a bachelor's degree in journalism, both from American University. I also hold a professional certificate in children's book writing from the University of California at San Diego. 

I am a proud member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the 12 X 12 Picture Book Writing Challenge, the Writing Barn's Courage to Create community, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the White House Historical Association, and FLARE, of course.

In my free time, I love reading, spending time at the beach with my pups, walking/hiking, traveling, and being with my family.
