Author and Communication Strategist

After a lengthy career in strategic communication in the Washington, DC region, I‘m in the throes of a new career. Author!! (Though I still own Intent Communication, a strategic communication consultancy.)

From children's picture books, both fiction and nonfiction, to scholarly writing focused on the study of America's First Ladies, my new writing journey Is more exciting than I ever could have imagined.

This year, I am focused on writing as much as I can and selling my first picture book. Plus, I become a published contributing author in an upcoming scholarly book on First Ladies in 2025 (University Press of Kansas).

I hold a master's degree in strategic communication and a bachelor's degree in journalism, both from American University. I also hold a professional certificate in children's book writing from the University of California at San Diego. 

I am a proud member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the 12 X 12 Picture Book Writing Challenge, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the White House Historical Association and the First Ladies Association for Research and Education (FLARE) where I serve on the board of directors.

In my spare time, I love reading, hanging at the beach with my pups on the Outer Banks, walking/hiking and traveling.
